A young buck stood alone in the forest, ears twitching everywhich way, as if searching for something. He crouched low in the bushes as his mother had taught him to do for the first two weeks of his young life, for he was only 3 summers old and had been on his own for about a year and a half, due to his choice of disowning his father and the rest of them. He lowered his head at the thought. He had only done that because he hadn't agreed with his uncle and the plans he had since the fire had burnt their old breeding grounds. The rules that Tane had set in place seemed unfair to Hazelfury.

His eyes snapped open and he lifted his head ever so slightly to search the surrounding bushes. Sure enough, he could hear the hoofbeats of another deer. It sounded small, and it seemed to be running away from something. Hazelfury didn't want to give away his position, fighting the instinct to run as fast as his little legs could carry him away from this deer and whatever was chasing it.
He quickly glanced up and saw birds of all sizes flying in no pattern what-so-ever.

His eyes got wide with shock. That smell.... He had heard the stories, but had only seen Him once before in his short life. Man was back in the forest..... hunting with his big bang stick. Hazelfury had heard stories about the old herd and how they were hunted constantly. Surely Man hadn't found Haven yet!! He could hear more footsteps, those of the rabbits and squirrels scurrying to safety. He decided in a panic to start running, but in the back of his mind, he wanted to find out why this creature was so aggressive toward animals.

He leapt from his hiding place and began to follow the other animals, in a mad dash for the safety of the caves. He ran, blindly at first, but then with more purpose. He could hear the animals' screams as the shots rang out over head as they were struck down by an invisible force.

Hazelfury saw as the animals infront of him scampered on to save their lives. They reached the caves, Hazelfury at a canter, and burst through the waterfall and into the safety hold for all animals. Hazelfury glanced quickly around, panting for breath, and saw that a herd of deer were already there.
